Responsibilities
- Enter patient charges accurately and timely into practice management system
- Review encounter documentation to ensure charges are supported and complete
- Verify accuracy of CPT, ICD-10, and other applicable billing codes
- Identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information and follow up with appropriate clinical or administrative staff
- Ensure charges are entered in accordance with established billing guidelines and procedures
- Communicate with providers and department staff regarding charge entry questions or discrepancies
- Assist with identifying and resolving charge entry errors or billing discrepancies
Requirements & Skills
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Previous medical billing, charge entry or healthcare administrative experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer skills and ability to navigate multiple systems
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Allscripts EMR training preferred
